  • The Hemis monastery is best known for the Hemis festival which takes place in the precincts of its rectangular courtyard each year. The festival is an interesting affair, with plenty of music and masked dancers. The Hemis monastery also houses a museum of Buddhist images and sculptures
  • The twelve-12 storey Thikse monastery is also considered well worth visiting, as are the Likir, Lamayuru and Alchi monasteries
  • Tsomoriri is a high altitude lake and one of the most breathtakingly beautiful spots in Ladakh
  • Leh Palace is the former residence of the erstwhile royal family of Ladakh, while Stok Palace is the current residence
